The Impact of the 2024 FLSA Changes on Public Schools

Recent changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) regulations increase the minimum salary threshold for exempt employees to $844 per week, effective July 1, 2024. The threshold will then increase to $1,128 per week in January 2025, followed by an automatic update in 2027 and every three years thereafter. Employers must take a number of steps before the rules take effect on July 1. This session will review current exemption requirements, explain the new requirements and their anticipated impact on schools, and offer suggestions on how to prepare for compliance.
