2021 Panhandle Area Fall Series

TASBO is pleased to offer four certification courses over two days in Canyon, taught by experts in their fields. A test will be given for those taking each course for TASBO certification credit.

3.) Scroll down and select "Add" next to the course(s) you wish to attend. 
(You will have to expand the dropdown for the 16th to see the courses offered) Note: Please select only one option per day!
4.) Please select "Proceed to Checkout"

No prerequisite required to register. This course provides continuing education credit for TASBO certification (6 CEs), CPAs (7 CPEs), school board members, charter school administrators, TESA STEM participants and certified educators.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellations must be sent IN WRITING by email to register@tasbo.org or fax (512.462.1782). Cancellations received seven (7) working days before the event will be refunded in full; cancellations received one to six working days before the event will be refunded at 50 percent; and cancellations received the day of the event will not be refunded.

If you do not cancel and do not attend, you are still responsible for payment.

Attendees will develop an understanding of the fundamentals of managing school district employees, and best practices related to employee management. Areas covered include employee classification, FLSA requirements, employee conduct and documentation, change in status, complaints, and grievances.

This course provides an overview of the competitive sealed proposal process. Students will come away with an understanding of the components of an RFP, advertising requirements, how to prepare the scope of work, factors for evaluation, methods of negotiation and sample guidelines and RFP examples.

This course covers all aspects of account coding for Texas school districts, including balance sheet accounts, revenues, expenditures, and special circumstances. Students will understand why correct coding is important, and how to accurately code various situations.

This course covers all aspects of leaves and absences, including Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), workers' compensation, Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA), and state and local leave programs. Attendees will come away with an understanding of the legal requirements related to leaves, absences, temporary disability leave and FMLA, the difference between mandated state leave programs and local leave programs, how workers' compensation relates to the district's leave programs and how to manage leave and absence programs.
