This presentation provides an overview of the most common types of fraud affecting school districts, including risks related to purchasing, p-cards and credit cards, cash handling, assets/inventory, construction bond programs, as well as phishing and other cyber‑enabled schemes. Using practical examples and recent case studies, we will highlight how these schemes occur and the warning signs administrators and staff should recognize. The session will also identify key internal controls that help reduce fraud risk, protect public funds, and promote accountability across district operations.
